Beber always has so many amazing musicians and singers, and 2018 is no exception! Check out some of these awesome performances from the second session staff talent show!
Tastefully taking some inspiration from Billy Joel's hit song, The Piano Men stormed the music realm of Beber Camp and immediately established that they were a force to be reckoned with. Rather than playing carnival-like pianos and memories for an old man, these dudes set out to drop some phat beats and wonderful tunes. As we can all observe, they definitely achieved their goal.
"At 211 degrees, water is hot. At 212 degrees, water boils. When water boils, you get steam. When you get steam, you can power a locomotive. It takes one degree to separate the good from the great. But when you 212 a 212, you get the 424."
Although this statement can be a little confusing, lead singer Alex knew exactly what he was saying. He, along with Joel, Jay, Evan, Matt, and Josh brought all the energy to the Beber Camp stage at the end of 1st session with their electrifying performance of the Kanye/Kid Cudi classic, "Erase Me". The band was hyped up as well as the entire crowd. Now THAT is a 424. That live recording, as well as their studio recording, is below!
K-U2 swept into the studio late-night on a sneakout to sing about how generally cool they are, and how they basically run camp, and other such big statements that they back up with their big personalities.

The Spice Jews are unlike any other band in Beber history. Not only are they one of the largest bands in terms of people onstage, but their spirit is something quite unique as well. Back in the 1990's, The Spice Jews were involved in an intense legal battle with the pop group known as The Spice Girls. This resulted in TSJ having to wait to use their name until after the other group had disbanded. With that said, The Spice Jews made their official debut at the Fine Arts Fest in 2018 and it was truly something to see (video below.)

One day at lunch 40,000 years ago, a group of world-class musicians came across an infant culinary genius that demanded he be called Cheffrey Jefferey. One of the musicians misheard the young chef and simply asked, "Jeff?" From there, the rest is music history. The talents of Talia, Sloan, Cassie, Josh, and Bubble Bath surely speak for themselves, as you'll hear in their live and studio recordings below!
Jonathan, Samuel, Teddy and Zach started an air conditioning company in Washington, DC. One day, a customer said that one of their machines was making a weird sound. So they went there to check it out, and they figured the sounds sounded like a rhythm. So Teddy found a stick, and started smashing the air conditioning, and it sounded pretty good. So the guys thought why not start a band?
Therefore, the band was born, and their name shall be known as District of Columbia Air Conditioning, or for short, DC/AC. Check out their photo, recordings, and live performance video below!

Hello everyone. My name is Allison Lefkowitz. I have just turned 10 years old and this is my 3rd summer at Beber camp. I love cake, sushi and sleeping.
My song is about bringing Beber camp back to earth because it floated away... and that's all I know. Are you writing everything I say? Okay, now we're done. Now we're going to take pictures no more of this bio stuff. I gave you a description. AHHHH!!!
The hottest band in the Pio Village this summer was Andrew and the Aronoffs, and after they made their Fine Arts Fest debut, the whole world knew about it, We hope they are ready for the big time.

Michael ‘Baller Boi’ Kavis - Cleveland, Ohio/Mars. Michael is the guitarist in the band. He has digitally escaped from the popular game Fortnite. He’s back from his Fortnite travels to play in the band.
Aaron Stinson - Vernon Hills, Illinois. Aaron is the lead singer in the band. Aaron was fighting in the Narnia wars through the wardrobe (without the lion and the witch) with his new pal Mr. Tumnus.
Asher Willcox - Vernon Hills, Illinois. Asher is the bassist in the band. Asher fell from the sky and landed at a farm. The family took him in and it was at this point he was taught how to play bass guitar. Kinda like Superman.
Nathan ‘Rage’ Heftman - Glencoe, Illinois aka the stone age. Nathan is the drummer in the band. Nathan was transported from the stone age to the present by aliens when he was a young child. He found himself playing pots and pans in random peoples kitchens.
We decided to do a sweet sweet cover of Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes, which we recorded in a crazy late-night sneakout session... check it out, along with some secret footage from their session!
Isaac was in world war 1, and he was a beautiful fireball with lots of flowers in tropical paradise and his name was Alexander Hamilton, or for short, Alex Hammie.
Winter was a basketball player, she played in the New York Bebers, but she was kicked out because she couldn’t score at all.
Jasmine was an astronaut and she flew her rocketship into the sun, where a friendly fireball named Alex Hammie met her and asked to hitch a ride. She agreed. They flew together to planet Earth, where they were told there’s a magical place where they make the best music in the world with a great producer whose name is unknown, so they call him Q.
Frustrated by her firing from basketball, Winter turned to her other passion- music. She went to a new place she heard of named Beber. She got there and saw some weird stuff- an astronaut and a fireball covered in flowers. They introduced themselves to each other and then the producer Q showed up, and with the help of his loyal assistant Uri, they made the best song ever about their new home, Beber Camp.
The party doesn't start till the Fireballz walk in. We are Quinn, Annabelle, Axel, Este, and Olivia and we are the fireballz! We love gymnastics, parkour, coding, dancing, volleyball and making music. We are from cities all over the country, but we all come to beber camp to make our music. We hope you enjoy the show!
The B2 Beach Boys are a awesome cover band that is made up of 10-12 year old boys. The idea for this came to us on a rainy day. This is the first of many hit singles. Please enjoy our awesome song ft. the B2 Beach Boys. Forever Rock On!
SUMMER 2018 IS OFFICIALLY HERE!
Hey guys, Will Jarvis here! This is a little blog post on our music staff, updates and plans for the summer. I am returning for my 4th summer as the Music Director and 6th summer at Beber. A lot has changed over the years and by far, Summer 2018 is looking to be our most epic summer yet!
I am incredibly lucky to have a sweet mix of fresh and returning staff this year. Russell
Wiener will be popping in for a week or two for each session, providing unparalleled Rock ’n’ Roll. Hunter Borowick and Charlie Box will be returning for their 2nd summer as mucic staff. With a summer tour of experience under their belts, they reckon they can blow our socks off with their new German Yodelling Hip-Hop hobby and being able to tell you where AC/DC actually come from.
It is an honor to have Qurban ‘Q’ Shah joining the team. Q hails from the same university that both Charlie and I attended. He is fresh off his Popular Music & Technology course and ready to share his knowledge with the campers!
Finally, there is Uriah “Uri” Sharon, our brand new song leader from Israel. He has just returned from the a great music program for Song Leaders, Hava Nashira. There he learned so much as is excited to bring his talents to provide beautiful music to our services.
We have made some huge improvements to the area. In Crown Hall, we have a brand new sound system, that not only sounds brilliant but also future-proofs Crown Hall. We have also been blessed to have a T-Coil Loop installed. This allows campers/staff with hearing impairments to hear speech clearer than before. I believe this is a huge step in the right direction and further allows us to provide a better experience for everyone. The Recording Stuido (a.k.a The Shred Shed) is seeing some improvements to allow us to provide more space for cabin activities and hobbies. On the hobby side of things, we are coming in with a new program scheme to help provide campers with some essential music tech/teaching skills, this is called the ‘Music Maker’ Program. Our other hobbies will be back too, don’t worry, with new hobbies currently in the pipeline!
It will be an awesome summer I’m sure and can’t wait for you all be with the music team. We can’t wait to work with the most creative kids that I’ve ever seen!
