To understand what it’s really like for a rock band to go from zero - no name, no song, no image, nada - to playing in from of hundreds of campers and staff after just a few hours of rehearsal… only a Rockumentary will truly explain it.
Thanks to artist in residence, music video cinematographer extraordinaire Mika Larson, we were able to film this documentary of the rise of Anything But - their journey from obscurity to fame, with all the trials, setbacks, and triumphs that go with it.
Please enjoy this film, culminating in their Fine Arts Fest performance on the last day of camp 2022. This… is ANYTHING BUT!

Below are some great performances from Ramot and All Camp Talent Shows in 2022 session 2. More to come as well! Enjoy!
The controversial band Better Than Yesterday performing their hit Stacy Mom (or was it Stacy’s Mom, hmmm) to a sold out Crown Hall crowd. Why controversial? Watch the Anything But Rockumentary to find out!
Emma and Spence - an amazing combo of talents performing a song that quickly stops the chatty crowd in its tracks. What an unforgettable moment this was!
An emotional, poignant tale of patience and redemption, performed with loud guitars and drums. ROCK N ROLL!! AVRIL!!!
Beber's storied tradition continues with the Senior Song, Sess 2 2022, lyrics by T5 & T6, music by Edward Sharpe!
Emma and Spence's performance was so amazing it got them into the all-camp talent show. Lucky for us they did a different song so we have TWO from them to enjoy!
Two things never go outta fashion at Beber - Makor rock band, and the Beatles! Here they are together, with a Beber-centric parody of an all-time classic, and played and sung by the campers!
We’ve had this black electric guitar at camp since 2007, and this year we decided it was due for a redecoration!
Wre took the whole thing apart in Guitar Building hobby, stripped the finish, repainted and decorated it, clear coated it, put it back together (including soldering!) and held our breath till we played that first chord through an amp and heard that it sounded better than ever!
Thanks to Derrick and Phoenix for doing such an amazing job!
The Atomic Rockstars have set the Kesher music scene on fire with their rendition of the all-time classic Queen song We Will Rock You! They claim to actually KNOW the band in this video! Truth or fiction? You’ll have to ask them.
In the meantime check out their rehearsal video and recording below, and remember the names Mari, Alaina, Ellie, and Eden, cuz it’s not the last you’ll be hearing from them!
Leo Roth & Other have made waves on the Beber scene by always going their own way, and the recordings, videos, and poster below prove just that! Enjoy this cover of a Fleetwood Mac classic!
Oh and if you want to know how a classic music video special effect is achieved, just check out the video at around 2:15. It’s not as high tech as you may have thought!
Leo Roth and Spence Oshins, with Violet, Maddie, and Rhys. Special guest Russell
As many Beberites are aware, a new camp promo video is in production, with lots of filming going on at Beber this summer!
We decided to run a hobby where campers would write music - both instrumental and vocal cues - to be used in the video.
We had NO IDEA just how good the music and songs would end up being, and we had to share it now! All these cues were written by Lily, EmJ, Emma, Mallory, and Eliana (all from T6) along with music staff Eliya, Suzanne, video producer Brett, and Russell, who produced the recordings. CHECK EM OUT!
VOCAL CUES:
2022 at Beber Camp is underway, and our first recording of the first day of hobbies is… drum roll… 22! As performed by the T6 cabin.
And here’s the pick it was performed on! It’s all happening, folks. BRING ON ‘22!!
Untuned Piano is a band out of Beber Camp that's making waves with their first single Teenagers. Their band name came from a faulty piano that they were trying to use for their first rehearsals. Luckily they managed to fix the problem and they’ve been blowing up ever since. Check out the studio recording below, as both a streaming/downloadable mp3 and a YouTube link.
Below is a get-to-know-the-band video, followed by video footage of a recent performance in Crown Hall.
Meanwhile a paparazzi photographer snuck into a private live performance of Untuned Piano at The Chapel. The security kept asking her to turn off the camera, but she managed to capture half of Teenagers and just a couple clips of their cover of Save Tonight. Hard to hear the vocals, but still fun to see a hot band at the top of their game!
And finally, here’s the video of their surprise performance at the outdoor stage of Beber Fest 2021, where the crowd was wowed. Untuned Piano is now taking a well-deserved break, but he hope to see them active again in 2022!
This year the Kesher guitar-building hobby tackled an Arch-top acoustic/electric guitar kit. Having only 3 days of hobby, and one of them lost to rain, we had just TWO hours to build a guitar!
Impossible, you might say!
Yes, you’re correct. BUT we designed and painted it, and it’s way cool. We’ll finish it next summer.
Everyone had their own ideas for a design, and when it came time to vote we decided that instead of picking just one design we’d split the guitar up into different zones and everyone would do their design.
It’s one of the coolest and most interesting guitar finishes we’ve ever seen! Can’t wait to get it working in 2022!
They came in as three campers… they left as ROCK BC, a Recording Stuido band that played all their own instruments, wrote their own lyrics, and created this fantastic song about the excitement of camp called “Always Ready for Anything.”
Give it a listen and add it to your good-vibes playlist!
Andrew: Guitar
Febe: Vocals, lyrics
Noah: Guitar
Everyone: Percussion, keys
Despite only forming as a band days before BeberFest 2021 (and in fact only naming themselves AFTER this performance below) they made an appearance at the outdoor stage, and got the crowd singing and dancing.
We hope they’ll get back together in 2021!
Joely and the Rest came together at Beber Camp summer 2021 to bring smiles to peoples’ faces and rock and roll to their lives!
This super group performed at the outdoor stage of BeberFest, but we were also lucky to be invited to a private rehearsal, which we filmed as well. Check it all out now!
The rock ensemble Genuinely is kind of a big deal. In fact they insist on no cell phones in the audience at their performances.
Lucky for rock fans the monitor mixer on the side of the stage snuck a video of their BeberFest performance. All we can say is wow! Enjoy!
Lizarb is the strange name of an amazing new band at Beber. When asked about the moniker they explained that it’s “Brazil” backwards. When asked why they were fairly tight-lipped. But hey, we like it regardless.
Check out their epic performance at BeberFest 2021 - one of only 2 bands featured on the bill! Below that is an exclusive video of a pre-BeberFest rehearsal by invite only - and even the most casual Beber music fan will recognize the member of Untuned Piano in the front row!
We are fingers crossed they will reunite next summer too!
All bands have their disagreements but there’s one thing that Beber’s latest pop-rock sensation agree on - Maccabiah is Rigged*** (see disclamer below.) In fact that’s what they named their band!
And now their very first live performance of the classic Hooked on a Feeling has been released, and it’s already gaining attention worldwide. You can also watch their interview and get to know the band members. Get hooked yourself by clicking below!
And finally, below is their set at the outdoor stage of Beber Fest 2021. If you’re not hooked on a feeling by now, I guess you never will be. Play it loud!

But the band is rockin’. I mean like totally jammin’. So good.
Thank you for reading.

Summer is synonymous with singing and dancing, or at least that’s what Beber’s newest double-threat sensation the Boas would have you believe!
They sang Dancing Queen in the Recording Studio, along with adding bass, keys, and percussion to the backing tack.. and then filmed a video right here at Beber!
The song and video feature Adam, Lyric, Anya, and Abby - with Julia Bessen our Kesher director reprising her former role as music specialist/video expert to not only film the video but also bake the cake!
Then Russell edited the video and mixed the music.
Enjoy!
The Makor Video hobby went all over camp to create this beautiful video for Born to Be Brave and several other classic tunes! Check it out!
A brand new song and video extolling the best hobby at Beber - the Recording Studio!! Enjoy these campers’ hard work!
